What is the maximum voltage that can be applied between uPC393 and GND?

Latest Updated:07/01/2006

Question:

I'm using the uPC393 comparator (with V+ set to 15 V and V- set to GND) and I will design so that the device directly drives a resistive load connected to +24 V power supply. In this kind of application, what is the maximum voltage that can be applied between the uPC393's output pin (open collector) and GND?

Answer:

The tolerance of an open collector type output (Vo) is prescribed as V--0.3V to V-+36V in the absolute maximum ratings. Therefore, when V- is connected to GND, the maximum voltage that can be applied is +36 V.
