(RX610) Is the endian of the external bus also set using the mode pin (MDE)?

Latest Updated:05/16/2011

Question:

Is the endian of the external bus also set using the mode pin (MDE)?

Answer:

The external address space of the external bus is divided into eight areas (CS0 to CS7) and the endian mode is set for each using the endian mode bit (EMODE) in the CSi control register (CSiCNT).
Note that string manipulation instructions will not work for areas that differ in endian (internal memory included).
For more information, please refer to the "CSi Control Register" and "Endian and Data Alignment" sections in the "Buses" chapter of the hardware manual.
