(RX62N, RX621) What is the maximum transfer volume (byte count) of the DMAC?

Latest Updated:06/26/2013

Question:

What is the maximum transfer volume (byte count) of the DMAC?

Answer:

RX62N:
Regardless of DMAC transfer mode, the DMA transfer count register (DMCRA) specifies how many words per byte (words/byte) (number of bits depends on SZ) are transferred during one DMA transfer request.
With normal transfer mode the DMCRA register can be set to FFFFh and the maximum transfer volume is 65535 words/byte. In repeat transfer mode, the DMCRA register can be set to 000h for the maximum transfer volume of 65535 words/byte. In repeat mode the DMCRB register can also be used. If this is set to 000h, the volume for one request is 1024*1024 words/byte, or 1 Megaword/byte.
For details please refer to the DMACA chapter of the hardware manual.
