What is On-chip ROM (FCU firmware) in memory map diagram in the manual?

Latest Updated:01/23/2014

Question:

What is "On-chip ROM (FCU firmware) (read only)" in the memory map diagram in the manual?

Answer:

It is the area where the dedicated firmware (FCU firmware) that programs the ROM (flash memory for code storage) and E2 DataFlash (flash memory for data storage) is stored.

To perform programming of the ROM or E2 DataFlash, FCU firmware must first be transferred from the "on-chip ROM (FCU firmware)" to the FCU-RAM area in advance.

For details, please see the ROM (Flash Memory for Code Storage) and E2 DataFlash Memory (Flash Memory for Data Storage) chapters of the User's Manual: Hardware.
