Are HDLC communications using pin ISRXDi and ISTXDi (i = 0, 1) possible?

Latest Updated:03/29/2013

Question:

The manual states "No pin is used" in HDLC data processing mode. Are HDLC communications using pins ISRXDi and ISTXDi (i = 0, 1) possible?

Answer:

No, the HDLC communications using pins ISRXDi and ISTXDi (i = 0, 1) are not possible.

HDLC data processing mode is intended for data conversion such as converting original data to HDLC frame data and vice versa. The converted data is stored in a dedicated register.

Another serial interface (i.e. serial I/O, etc.) is used for data input and output.
