Does V flag in CCR's changes with the data size?

Latest Updated:03/26/2009

Question:

Does V flag in CCR's changes with the data size?

Answer:

The CCR's V flag changes when an overflow is detected in the result of a signed arithmetic operation. This operation is the same for all data sizes.

However, the timing of the changes in the flag varies as follows:

- Byte: When the value is smaller than H'80 or larger than H'7F.

- Word: When the value is smaller than H'8000 or larger than H'7FFF.

- Longword: When the value is smaller than H'80000000 or larger than H'7FFFFFFF
