What could be the causes if hardware reset does not operate correctly?

Latest Updated:10/10/2006

Question:

The hardware reset does not operate correctly. What could be the causes?

Answer:

First, please verify that the program jumps to the address indicated by the reset vector.

  1. If the program does not jump to the appropriate address, verify that reset input is not against regulations.
  2. If the program malfunctions after jumping to the address, verify that the stack pointer and interrupt vector table are set correctly.

Also, the watchdog timer of the models other than R8C/10 and R8C/11 groups automatically operates, if the bit of FFFFh address of the flash memory is set to "0". Please check the value of FFFFh address.
