What degree of precision in frequency is required on a microcomputer?

Latest Updated:11/05/2008

Question:

(Clock)  What degree of precision in frequency is required by the reference clock on a microcomputer?
(calculation method only OK)
I would like to verify whether there will be any problem with the degree of stability of the external ceramic resonator I'm using to generate the reference clock. [2008/11/05]

Answer:

We do not have any specifications regarding clock frequency precision.
Normal MCU operation can be expected if oscillation meets the minimum main clock input cycle time and main clock input high (low) pulse width described as timing requirements in electrical characteristics in the datasheet.
Note that operation clock frequency precision influences the precision of timers, etc. (#107004)
