What is Undershoot?

This is a phenomenon that the level of a signal momentarily goes below the stable low level when the signal falls. This phenomenon likely occurs in a high-speed device with a short switching time.
If undershoot or overshoot exceeds the absolute maximum ratings, a latch up or break down may occur. Usually, undershoot and overshoot are absorbed by using a noise clipping diode.
