Attempting to set a software breakpoint; error messages appear.1010232
Question:
Debugging is being performed in the High-performance Embedded Workshop (HEW) environment using the E1/E20 emulator.
When attempting to set a software breakpoint, the following error message is displayed.
When using the E1/E20 emulator debugger for RX family:
No software break points can be set in the on-chip ROM area during debugging CPU re-write mode.
When using the E1/E20 emulator debugger for R8C family:
The command is not executable during debugging with the flash ROM being programmed.
Answer:
When a program that rewrites contents in the on-chip flash ROM area is specified to be debugged (*), no software breakpoint can be set.
When debugging a program that rewrites contents in the on-chip flash ROM area, use an on-chip break.
When a program that rewrites contents in the on-chip flash ROM area is not debugged, cancelling the following setting allows software breakpoints to be used.
* Select [Debugging the program re-writing the internal PROGRAM ROM] (Note) in the [System] tab of the [Configuration Properties] dialog box that is displayed when the emulator is started up.
Note: For the E1/E20 R8C emulator debugger, select [Debugging the program re-writing the internal flash].
