Why an error occurs when I debug a program on an H8S or H8SX MCU?

Latest Updated:02/15/2007

Question:

When I debug a program on an H8S or H8SX MCU, the "Frequency error " appears and the debug is terminated. Why?

Answer:

The "Frequency error" occurs when the E10A-USB is connected to your board, and the value entered in the System Clock dialog box and the value multiplied by the setting in the PLL circuit do not match the operating frequency of the MCU. Make sure you enter the same clock frequency for the System Clock that you entered for the MCU.
Please note that if you are using the PLL circuit, the original value entered will no longer equal the MCU operating frequency after it has been multiplied.
