What happens to the data and the block if EEL_CMD_CLEANUP is executed?

Latest Updated:10/24/2014

Question:

If I execute the EEL_CMD_CLEANUP command of the EEPROM Emulation Library Pack 01 for the RL78 family and power is momentarily shut down while valid data are being moved to make a block newly valid in response, what happens to the data and the block ?

Answer:

If power is momentarily shut down so that correct moving of valid data becomes impossible, data that have not been moved in the old block will be still valid. For the block to which moving of data was not completed, the block becomes invalid on execution of the EEL_CMD_STARTUP command after power is restored following the momentary shut down. This invalid block is removed by executing the EEL_CMD_CLEANUP command and becomes available again.
