Can a comparator be used as an operational amplifier?

Question:
Can a comparator be used as an operational amplifier?
Answer:
Yes, but because comparators do not incorporate a phase compensation capacitor, oscillation will occur when negative feedback is applied. It is therefore impractical to use a comparator as an operational amplifier because a large-capacity capacitor must be connected to the output, slowing the speed considerably.
