Electric angle and mechanical angle

The angle of the current that a driver for a stepper motor causes to flow through the coil of a stepper motor is called an electric angle, and the angle the motor actually revolves is called a mechanical angle.
ake a stepper motor having eight poles, two phases, and 36 teeth, for example. If an AC current flows through a pole for one period (360° of electric angle), the motor actually revolves 10 degrees (mechanical angle) (= 360 degrees ÷ 36 teeth).
